Ertiga – Industry’s first Life Utility Vehicle (LUV) was launched on 12th April 2012 by car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited. Ertiga has paved the way for Maruti’s entry into the UV (Utility Vehicle) category, a feat much awaited by Maruti fans across the nation. Ertiga has strengthened the product portfolio of Maruti and has also created a whole new “Life Utility Vehicle” segment in the market at a very attractive price. That too at a time when MPV’s (Multi Purpose Vehicles) have been ruling the Indian market with a 20% growth on an year to year basis.
The Toyota Innova, the Mahindra Xylo and the Chevrolet Tavera are its closest competitors, with Ertiga definitely having the advantage of price as well as the being from the stable of Maruti.
Launched in both petrol and diesel variants, the ex showroom price varies Rs.5.89 Lacs and at Rs.8.45 Lacs.
The petrol variant is powered by the new and powerful K-series 1373 cc VVT engine delivering 95 ps power at 6000 rpm with a torque of 130 nm @ 4000 rpm.
The diesel variant is powered by the reliable 1248 cc DDIS VGT engine delivering 90 ps power at 4000 rpm with a torque of 200 nm @ 1750 rpm.
The mileage in petrol and diesel is 16.02 kmpl and 20.77 kmpl respectively.
